The Cloud Engineer is designing, developing and managing cloud native infrastructure, applications, and services using the Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles. (S)He enables on-demand commissioning and decommissioning of versioned infrastructures required by software solutions in the different development environments (ie Development, Testing or Quality Assurance, Staging or Pre-Production, Production, Disaster Recovery) of different execution environments (ie cloud and/or on-premises). This allows for life cycle efficiency (eg untracked manual changes), cost savings, business continuity and Disaster Recovery Plan (DRP) compliancy.

For the product line, Development Frameworks & Services, we are searching for an experienced Cloud Engineer to help us in setting up and managing our cloud infrastructure. The cloud engineer will work for 4-5 different product teams and help those teams managing their cloud infrastructure (Azure). The candidate will setup cloud environments according to the Group standards and manage those environments as far as the product team's needs.

The Cloud Engineer will be part of the Engineering chapter which gathers skilled professionals who design and implement efficient and reliable technical infrastructure to support the Group's digital initiatives. They are given the necessary permissions in production execution environments to increase the scalability and the resiliency of the delivered solutions by monitoring, observing, diagnose and resolve proactively and reactively any issues the solutions could be facing. Being active members of each product cluster, they contribute to their empowerment and enable the "You Build It, You Run It" (YBI YRI) modern operations pattern. They constitute a natural relay of the other product team members coming from the other chapters such as MLOps Engineers for Data Scientists, Database Administrators for Data Engineers or DevOps Engineers for Software Engineers.

The Cloud Engineer will work close with the Cloud Pool from Server Team and the software engineers of the different initiatives. His activities will be split between the support to the development and deployment of cloud solutions and the management and operationalization of these solutions in different environments, mainly on Microsoft Azure.

Responsibilities (non-exhaustive)

• Match infrastructure implementation/monitoring/management with software architecture
• Influence software architecture to simplify/streamline operational management
• Monitor running instances ensure costs are managed and optimized against performance
• Configuration changes/documentation/automation of changes
• Monitor/manage logs
• Patch management
• Security and key management, manage the roles and authorization for applications
• Monitor infrastructure/application performance & health
• Developing and monitoring infrastructure automation for deployment
• Monitor build/deployment status
• Managing infrastructure on Microsoft Azure
• Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery software release management and automation

Requirements:

• Must have a very broad IT knowledge covering infrastructure domains (networking, security)
• Must have an understanding of the architecture, design and development of cloud services
• A previous experience as cloud consultant
• Knowledge of best practices and IT operations for always-up, always-available services
• With setup and manage containers Kubernetes (K8) or AKS
• Understanding of authentication and authorization principles in cloud
• In micro service-oriented IT architectures
• In cloud platforms like Azure & GCP
• Very good and passionate in Scripting (Terraform | CLI & PowerShell | YAML)
• Proven experience with similar missions/projects/technologies:
• Understanding of Microsoft Azure architecture and services
• Understanding IoT architectures is a plus
• Experience in designing and developing cloud security strategies and cloud networks
• Experiences in creating technical/IT concepts, technical specifications and architectures
• Be passionate about being challenged and hungry to continuously learn
• Communicative and constructive
• Must be able to work independently
• Analytical skills in identifying problems and pointing out solutions
• Able to deliver pragmatic approaches and keeping solutions as simple as possible
• Able to document processes and architectures
• Able to present/discuss (to technical audience) the proposed solutions

Languages:

• Fluent in English, additional language skills in German, Dutch or French are a plus.

Location: Brussels 2 days per week with 3 days per week remote work possible, an occasional trip to Berlin may be required.
