Senior Java Developer required in Welywn Garden city.

Contract 6 months duration with a scope for extension

Location- Welwyn Garden city 2 days a week (hybrid)

My client is a blue chip FMCG and retail brand that serve millions of customers every week from all over the globe. With over 6,000 stores internationally my client is a well-known household name that offer several exciting opportunities.

As a Senior Software Developer, you are responsible for the entire development and support process for a software programme. Your applications make previously sophisticated tasks simple with the impact ranging from saving time, effort, or money to re-defining normal. As you might expect, the role focuses on day-to-day code writing however, you'll also get to lead on design and architecture as well as help mentor and develop those around you in the team!

The stack; Java, NET/C#, Cassandra, Docker, HAProxy, Azure DevOps, Postgres. TDD and a 'you build it, you support it' DevOps approach are also key parts of our engineering culture.

Within this role you will:

. Designing, documenting, implementing, and troubleshooting of highly transactional, available, reliable, and performant APIs.
. Analyse and optimise APs for performance and cost.
. Implementation of standards eg, security and data protection measures.
. Break down business requirements into technical tasks, elaborate requirements where necessary.
. Collaboration with cross-functional teams.
. Proactively mentoring and providing guidance on industry best practices and technical decisions.
. Lead technical implementation communicating complex ideas and problems to peers.
. Continually propose and drive process improvements.
. Focusing mostly on greenfield development and improvement of existing system.
. Help support the domain that you develop, including an out of hours support rota.

Programming:
. Strong understanding of Java frameworks Spring boot, micronaut, reactive programming and modern programming techniques.
. Experience with nosql databases. Nice to have couchbase.
. Experience with distributed messaging system eg, Kafka.
. Proficiency in containerization technologies k8s, docker.
. Practical cloud native experience with AWS/Azure.
. Proficiency in automation and continuous delivery methods.

Design:
. Knowledge of different architectural patterns.
. Actively practice the boy scout principle, leaves design, code in a better state than

when arrived.
. Demonstrate a good understanding of SOLID principles.
. Understand and appreciate simplicity and the value of removing code.
. Understand how to design for performance at all levels.

Others:
. Experience in product focus development.
. Adopting company values and code of conduct.

. Outcome driven.
