The Electrical Specialist position is a key role within the Site Design Team, responsible for electrical design initiatives for our internal teams, construction partners and clientele.

The Electrical Engineer will create comprehensive electrical solutions that comply with current legislation and regulations that ensure build and operational effectiveness.

A proactive approach is required to develop cost effective and energy efficient designs when working with suppliers, clients and internal or external teams, to establish robust guidelines, documentation, processes, and procedures.

The role will also include chairing meetings, running workshops, and engaging in all other activities that contribute to the continuous improvement of our services and make us the first choice in the Telecommunication industry.

Key responsibilities of the Electrical Engineer include:

Technical:

  • Working within the multi-disciplined Design Team in the field of electrical engineering.
  • Lead on the development of design standards and solutions that are in accordance with the appropriate regulations & legislation, and ensuring suppliers are aware and uphold these standards.
  • Undertake site visits, investigate issues, audit electrical installations, test & inspection work completed by suppliers and build partners.
  • Desktop reviews of site designs and test certification.
  • Attend suppliers to develop relationships, product development and training.
  • Be able to lead for incoming design queries related to electrical engineering, resolve with appropriate design guidance or to delegate to specialists within the design team. This includes queries in relation to deployment, sites out of service, operational and maintenance issues.
  • Review, approve or reject electrical design concessions and provide responses to Electrical Design helpdesk queries.
  • To Review, critic and provide feedback to suppliers on all matters related to electrical design, documentation, installation and test issues.

Communication:

  • Prepare material and present at Engineering workshops and other similar events to promote design standards and guidelines.
  • Work within teams created for specific projects until completion.
  • Engage with and support all stakeholders across the business and clientele base in matters related to electrical engineering.

Health and Safety:

  • Ensure all guidelines conform to current .GOV, HSE and BS/EN/IEC standards.
  • Support and report on near misses/incident investigations for electrical and other cross party issues, create reports and trends.
  • Drive a safety mindset through good design and working closely with our supply chain and clients to improve safety standards.

The successful Electrical Engineer will have:

  • 5 years experience in Electrical Design and Install of commercial & residential installations that are BS7671 compliant and certified.
  • Experience of Test, Verification & Inspection to BS7671 on new and existing fixed installations. (EIC & EICR).
  • Electrical Engineering qualification and time served Electrical Apprenticeship. ie City & Guilds, 2365 (level 2 min)
  • Considered as Skilled person (electrically) who possess practical, theoretical, and electrical engineering skills, experience and knowledge (ie, NICEIC level 2 or 3 etc.)
  • 18th Edition certified (BS7671) City & Guilds 2381, 2382.
  • General knowledge of mobile telecoms infrastructure.
  • A firm understanding of electrical infrastructure, AC, DC, Earthing, LPS, SPD's, DC power supplies, DSO supplies.
  • Good understanding of CDM legislation.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills
